EL HARDWICK

El Hardwick (they/them) is a London based photographer, director, musician, curator and writer. Identifying as trans non-binary, their work explores relationships between bodies and their surrounding environments, queer world making practices, and how we can heal on a damaged planet.

Whether taking photographs of fellow musicians, or releasing music and recording mixes: a highly conceptual and multidisciplinary approach is always at the forefront of El’s work. In their passion for combining media, and sensitivity for storytelling, it is obvious that the two seemingly distinct worlds of photography and music, are in fact naturally one for El. 2020 will see the release of El’s debut album under their own name, released on 33-33 alongside a book of photography and writing.

El Hardwick has exhibited in London, Paris, Tokyo, LA, Oxford, Lisbon and Brighton, at galleries including The V&A Museum, Palais De Tokyo, The Southbank Centre and The Cob Gallery. They have also performed their music internationally, and done talks for Oxford and Cambridge University about their work.

They have been featured by platforms including Dazed, I-D, BBC Radio 4, British Vogue, The Guardian, The British Journal of Photography, The Independent, Purple Fashion, Buffalo Zine, Crack magazine, The Wire, 4:3 & more.
